Macedon Ranges Dressage Club Extreme Weather Policy

The MRDC wishes to protect the wellbeing of riders and horses at rallies.  When weather conditions have the potential to affect the health and safety of the participants and/or welfare of horses at MRDC rallies, the committee will take steps to avoid or reduce the risk of illness or injury.

To ensure the wellbeing of all involved and to allow notice to be provided to coaches, venue

providers and riders of any changes to proposed rally days the following will occur:

  • 36 hours prior, the bom weather forecast for the rally day will be checked and if predicted to be extreme (this includes, but is not limited to, heavy rain, damaging winds, lightening, heat) three designated committee members (Treasurer, Rally Coordinator and President) will decide whether or not to proceed with the event, or what modifications, if any, need to be made to the format. If there is a disagreement, the majority will make the final decision.

  • If a decision is made not to proceed, the Rally Coordinator will immediately contact the rally coach and venue provider to inform them of the cancellation. If a decision is made to proceed with modification to the format, the Rally Coordinator will immediately contact the rally coach to advise of proposed changes, and the venue provider if necessary.

  • An Email and Facebook post will be sent out to all riders informing them of thedecision.

Note: The Rally Coordinator will advise each engaged coach of this policy at the time of

booking and that if a rally must be cancelled every effort will be taken to re-book that coach

at a later time, however this cannot be guaranteed.
